Over het museum

Ulvsborg Historisk Værksted, south of Asnæs in Odsherred, grew out of a project driven forward by the archaeologist Eric Zehmke from 1997. The friends' association Ulvsborgens Venner was formed in 1998, and in 2004 the foundation Fonden Ulvsborg Historisk Værksted, which owns the grounds and has run them ever since.

On about 24 hectares of fields, meadows, forest, and ponds, a fortified manor farm – a Stormandsgård – was reconstructed with a tower, hall house, workshop buildings, gardens, and farm animals. A historical farm of this name never existed; at that time the site lay in what is now the diked-in Lammefjord. It portrays the transitional period between the Viking Age and the Middle Ages, from about 1050 to 1250, when royal power was being contested while everyday life on the farms went on.

On opening days, staff and members of the friends' association bring the farm to life: there is baking, carving, spinning, and weapons training, and visitors can try out many things themselves, such as archery, spear throwing, or flatbread baking. In addition, Ulvsborg offers school programs up to multi-day camp schools as well as overnight stays in the historic buildings and at campsites.

From the date of purchase, the ticket is valid as an annual pass for all opening days in 2026. All activities on the grounds are included in admission. Tickets in the entrance tent or online via Billetto. A day ticket can be upgraded on site to a weekly or annual ticket.

On the spacious grounds, young and old can try many things together: put on medieval clothing, bake flatbread, carve, shoot arrows, throw spears and sticks. Families can also live for three days as a medieval family on the farm.

Café and shop tent right behind the gate (on opening days 10:00–16:00) with coffee, tea, and cold drinks; unless a fire ban is in effect, there are sausages in bread to grill yourself over the campfire. Picnicking at the tables and benches is allowed. Souvenirs such as mugs, plates, swords, books, jewelry, and historical toys.
