Bibliorama – das Bibelmuseum Stuttgart
Interactive Bible museum in central Stuttgart; no regular public opening since February 2026, guided tours for groups by appointment.
Over het museum
The Bibliorama opened in 2015 on Büchsenstraße in central Stuttgart as a joint project of the Evangelische Landeskirche in Württemberg (the Protestant regional church) and the Württembergische Bibelgesellschaft. Its predecessors were the Bibelhaus in Stuttgart-Möhringen and a church museum in the Friedenskirche in Ludwigsburg.
Instead of a classic display of old manuscripts, the museum is built around hands-on participation: fifteen biblical figures – from Eve, Sarah and Moses to David – each stand for basic human experiences such as courage, fear, life and death, building a bridge to questions people ask today. At interactive stations, visitors can, for example, set psalms to music or build a church out of building blocks; an overview of how the Bible came to be spans everything from cuneiform to the digital edition. The museum's design won the German Design Award in 2017.
As part of cost-cutting measures, the regional church ended museum operations on January 31, 2026. A support initiative led by the friends' association then raised donations to fund a transitional year; since a soft opening in March 2026, guided tours – run largely by volunteers – are once again available, mainly for school classes, youth groups and confirmation classes, while a new, independent operating structure is being set up.
