Club-Museum 1. FC Nürnberg
Club museum of 1. FC Nürnberg at the Sportpark Valznerweiher with jerseys, trophies and stories since 1900 – free admission.
Over het museum
As early as the club's 100th anniversary in 2000, the Museen der Stadt Nürnberg (Nuremberg city museums) set up a permanent exhibition on the history of 1. FC Nürnberg at the Museum Industriekultur. In April 2012 the city and the club announced plans to turn it into a museum of its own; the existing items moved to the club grounds, and in September 2012 the Club-Museum opened in the entrance area of the new club building at the Sportpark Valznerweiher.
In just under 150 square meters, the exhibition, under the motto "Die Legende lebt" (The legend lives on), tells the story from the club's founding on May 4, 1900, through its great championship years to relegations and crises. Display cases, panels, films and audio stations present players and coaches, titles and finals, the club's development and fan culture. Replicas of the most important German soccer trophies are a reminder that the club has won every major national title, while many of the original trophies were melted down during World War II.
A separate section covers the Nazi era: a memorial plaque honors the Jewish members who were forced out of the club in 1933 and whose expulsion the club symbolically reversed in 2013. The museum is run jointly by the club and the city museums and continues to collect objects from fans and families.
