Over het museum

Haus Eller is a listed three-sided farmstead in the old village center of Bergheim-Ahe. The residence was built in 1778 as a half-timbered structure and received its present brick cladding with an inscribed date in 1850; it is accompanied by a former horse stable with a gateway passage, a stable wing, and a barn. The farmstead is named after the Eller family, from which a former local mayor of Ahe came.

In 2005 the family of the Cologne music publisher Christoph Dohr acquired the dilapidated property and restored it over the years in coordination with the monument preservation authority. In the same year, conversation concerts and tours began; in 2025 the piano museum celebrated its twentieth anniversary and more than 400 events.

On display is the Dohr Collection, which has been built up since 1998 and comprises around 150 stringed keyboard instruments from the 18th century to the present: clavichords, harpsichords, spinets, fortepianos, square pianos, pianos, and special forms from Germany, Austria, England, and other countries. It is complemented by action models, silent practice keyboards, toy pianos, miniature pianos, and a specialist library. Since 2018 a friends' association has supported the work of the house.
