Nähmaschinenmuseum Sommerfeld
Private technology museum in a former stable in Kremmen-Sommerfeld with over 240 sewing machines spanning about 150 years.
Over het museum
The sewing machine museum in the Sommerfeld district of Kremmen was founded in 2008 by Karin Hein and her family and built up on their own. It is housed in the former stable building of a four-sided farmstead.
The collection shows the technical development of the sewing machine from early models of the 19th century to the more recent past. On display are over 240 machines from well-known manufacturers such as Singer, Pfaff, Opel, or Peugeot; further examples are kept in storage. In addition to household machines there are special-purpose machines such as travel and children's sewing machines, devices for fur, hats, and boots, and a darning machine. Accessories such as thimbles and scissors complement the exhibition.
