Small Resistance museum installed since 2013 in the chapel of Saint-Marcoult in Silly, devoted to the maquisards of the Second World War.

Opening hoursAdmission €3

About the museum

MaquiStory occupies the chapel of Saint-Marcoult, a small village sanctuary built in 1792 that was for a long time a place of pilgrimage. The hamlet played an important role in the Resistance during the Second World War: the maquisards of the Silly woods found support among the inhabitants, who also hid airmen and men evading forced labour. A monument to the Secret Army stands in front of the chapel.

Since June 2013 the chapel has housed a historial (history centre) of the Resistance and the Second World War. Its design puts people first: it evokes the resistance fighters and their everyday lives through collection objects and audiovisual accounts. Among other things, there is a German aerial camera linked to the bombing of Enghien, clandestine press, personal objects and helmets, but deliberately no weapons.

The visit can continue outdoors with a signposted sound walk of about 5 km starting at the chapel, which follows the course of a parachute drop in real time.
