About the museum

The Maison de la Photographie is a meeting place centered on the image, located in the Fives district at the entrance to the city of Lille. According to its website, it has been active since 1997 and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017. It covers around 900 m² across two levels, dedicated to presenting photography in all its forms.

Throughout the year it hosts exhibitions, debates, screenings and other events. It shows the work of contemporary artists, commissions young photographers and supports regional creation, while also inviting international photographers.

It organizes the Transphotographiques festival, which each year brings together more than sixty exhibitions across the Euroregion over the course of a month. The Maison also offers photography practice workshops in the priority neighborhoods of the region, as well as guided tours and workshops for groups and schools. The venue has no permanent collection: its program consists of successive exhibitions.
