About the museum

The museum presents the mediumistic works of the etcher Fernand Desmoulin (1853–1914), who made mysterious drawings between 1900 and 1902, signed by three different spirits. In the 1950s his widow bequeathed his drawings and writings to the commune of Brantôme, which founded the museum to house the collection.

It occupies the first floor of the large 18th-century monastic wing of the Benedictine abbey of Brantôme, between the river and the rock. It is part of the visit route “The Abbey Caves and the Fernand Desmoulin Museum”, which also leads to the troglodyte remains of the monastery, the Grotto of the Last Judgment and the Fontaine Saint-Sicaire.

The abbey is managed by the Communauté de communes Dronne et Belle; tickets are sold at the tourist office or on site.
