About the museum
The building was a mill that was enlarged over time. It stopped working in the 19th century and became a farm. The Dominican friar Alfred Lemerre, a lover of ancient art, bought it and turned it into a priory: he added a porch, a staircase and a bell tower, painted the façades ochre red and renamed the place Vieux Logis.
He moved in in 1922 and fitted out the interior as a 15th-century house. The museum opened in this form in June 1939.
The thirteen rooms display sacred art objects, everyday objects and late-medieval furniture from the 14th to the 17th century. Highlights include a dining room with antique pewter, a Gothic room, a bedroom furnished in Renaissance style and a kitchen. Upstairs are a chapel, an oratory, a sacristy and a bedroom. A 15th-century Flemish Pietà is one of the outstanding pieces. The visit includes a former garden in the Niçois style.
