About the museum
The Préhistorama was created by Eirik Granqvist, a prehistorian, sculptor and naturalist. He personally made the figures and stuffed animals that populate the museum's scenes.
The route follows the history of life on Earth, from the first cells to Homo sapiens, through a gallery of 78 display cases and about 40 dioramas with life-size figures. It covers the primate Purgatorius, Neanderthals, cave art and the metal ages.
The collections number more than 1,500 pieces, including real fossils and rare casts. Much of it comes from the personal collection of Bruno Guy, president of the association Les Amis du Préhistorama, which also organises evening lectures by specialists.
