About the museum
The Krankenhausmuseum Bielefeld e. V. (registered association) is dedicated to the history of hospital care, with a focus on the Klinikum Bielefeld, whose history goes back more than 125 years. The museum opened in 2010 and is located on the hospital grounds.
The exhibition generally shows more than 600 objects on medical and nursing care, as well as pictures and background information on old buildings, aerial photographs and eyewitness accounts.
The museum works with Bielefeld University and provides objects for teaching; a historical book collection is open to medical students in the student house of the Klinikum.
