About the museum
On November 15, 1982, 19 residents of the Ludwigshafen district of Friesenheim founded the friends' association Förderkreis Museum Friesenheim. One goal was to build a local history museum that presents the history of the village of Friesenheim, which was incorporated into Ludwigshafen in 1892.
The museum is housed in the community hall built in 1828. On the second floor, a permanent exhibition in two former schoolrooms shows the development from a small village to a district of Ludwigshafen and an industrial location. The collection includes items from around 1900 and the following decades, among them a fully furnished hair salon from the 1920s with an adjustable chair and marble washbasins.
In a room on the third floor, the association organizes special exhibitions during the Kerwe fair days, in Advent, and on other occasions. The house is run by the Museumsverein Friesenheim.
