About the museum

The ice hockey museum "puck" is run by the association of the same name and tells the story of ice hockey in the Sauerland, where the sport has a tradition of more than 60 years. It is located in the Kulturquartier at Sauerlandpark in Hemer; according to secondary sources, it opened in summer 2019.

Across about 110 square meters in five rooms, the exhibition traces the arc from the building of ice rinks by Kanadier in Deilinghofen, through the move of ice hockey to Iserlohn, to the development of the Iserlohn Roosters. On display are founding documents, the first team jerseys from 1959 and historic goalkeeping equipment; a 3-D experience and a knowledge quiz offer interactive elements. Of more than 1,000 donated or loaned items, only some are on display at any one time; over 100 donors have helped stock the house.

The presentation changes: focal points and exhibits are regularly reset, so a repeat visit is worthwhile. The museum is run by volunteers; around 25 museum guides, many of them with their own ice hockey background, accompany groups. Access is now via a new, barrier-free entrance on Edmund-Weller-Straße below Nelkenweg, where the main entrance used to be.
