About the museum

Commonly known as the Scoletta, the Scuola del Santo was built as the seat of the Confraternity of Sant'Antonio, next to the basilica of the Saint: the lower part was built around 1430, the upper part in 1504.

In the 16th-century part, the Sala priorale (prior's hall) holds a cycle of 18 paintings executed in the early years of the 16th century, with scenes from the life and miracles of Sant'Antonio. Among them, three frescoes are early works by Tiziano Vecellio, dated 1511: Sant'Antonio makes a newborn baby speak, The Jealous Husband Stabbing His Wife and Sant'Antonio reattaches the foot of a young man.

After the major restoration completed in 2006, the paintings and the Sala priorale have regained their original splendour. The visit is part of the single ticket for the museum sites of the Antonian complex, together with the Museo Antoniano, the Museo della devozione popolare and the Oratorio di San Giorgio.
