About the museum
Forum Würth Chur was opened in 2002 together with the new administration building of Würth International AG in Chur’s Lacuna district. The building was designed by the architecture firm Jüngling & Hagmann. In the bright entrance hall, the museum shows temporary exhibitions drawn from the Würth Collection; this art collection of the entrepreneurial family comprises thousands of works, mainly of the 20th and 21st centuries, in painting, graphic art and sculpture.
In July 2007 a publicly accessible sculpture park of about 1,200 square metres was added around the building. It is deliberately laid out in a cubic style to suit the openness and transparency of the building. On view are, among others, colourful figures by Niki de Saint Phalle, works by Jean Tinguely, Bernhard Luginbühl and Carlo Borer, and the large tongue “Tongue” by the artist Not Vital, who comes from the Lower Engadine and whose work has stood in front of the building since 2011.
Besides the exhibitions, the museum offers art education for all age groups: tours for groups and school classes, an accompanying programme, the Würth KinderKunstKlub for primary school children, and children’s birthday parties. In the winter half-year, cabaret and small-scale performance events also take place. Admission to the museum is free.
