About the museum
The Fondation le Musée à Evolène was established in 1999. It has built a collection that shows life in the mountains and presents the many facets of local reality in permanent and themed exhibitions. All objects come from the Evolène region.
Visitors encounter the history and variety of traditional costume, the work of craftspeople, the development of alpinism and tourism, the importance of livestock farming, and the role of carnival. Tools, everyday objects, documents, texts, photographs, and films illustrate life in the village.
The museum is located in the village center of Evolène, south of the church.
