About the museum

The Ortsstube is the shared museum of the municipalities of Bolligen, Ittigen and Ostermundigen. It is housed in the Pfrundscheune (parish barn) next to the Bolligen church, which was built in 1771 and restored in 1975. The museum opened a year later, in 1976; in 2026 it celebrates its 50th anniversary. It is run by a foundation of the three municipalities and the Reformed parish of Bolligen.

The exhibition shows everyday life and work over the last three centuries: objects from farming and household economy, crafts, club life, the parish and the militia, along with documents and an extensive photo collection documenting the settlement development of the three municipalities over roughly 100 years. Special pieces include a playable Schumacher house organ from 1810 and a wooden cabinet from 1759.
