About the museum
The Battlesbridge Motorcycle Museum is a small museum of motor cycling history in the Battlesbridge Antiques Centre, which occupies a group of old farm and mill buildings on the tidal River Crouch in Essex. It is run by a team of enthusiasts who ride their own vintage machines to the museum.
The display brings together classic and vintage motorcycles with accessories and assorted memorabilia that evoke motor cycling through the decades. Riders from all over the area drop in to chat and drink tea, so the museum doubles as a meeting point for the local biking community.
The setting has its own history. Battlesbridge has been a river port since medieval times, trading in flour, hay, coal, malt and lime, and the antiques centre now fills several listed granary and farm buildings around the village green. The present iron bridge over the Crouch dates from 1872.
