About the museum

Bembridge Heritage was begun in 1996 by a group of villagers who wanted to save the past for the future, and it became a registered charity in 2019. Its volunteers collect, record and present the history of Bembridge and the surrounding area, working with and for the local community.

The society runs a visitor centre in Weavers Yard, behind the Co-op on Lane End Road, where entry is free and visitors can use the archives and databases. Its wider work includes monthly meetings with speakers, films and archive events, an annual exhibition in Bembridge Village Hall, visits to care homes and groups with archive topics, and the Bembridge Voices project, which records memories and stories of local people. The centre depends on donations.
