About the museum
Eden Valley Museum is run by the Eden Valley Museum Trust, a registered charity. It is housed in an atmospheric medieval farmhouse, Church House, on the High Street in the centre of Edenbridge, Kent. Volunteers do most of the work, supported by over two hundred members and local organisations.
The museum collects and teaches the social history of the Eden Valley, which includes Edenbridge and the nearby villages. It holds a large photographic and social history collection, and it shows permanent displays alongside temporary exhibitions and smaller changing exhibits. The collections include the Chiddingstone Hoard of Roman coins, and a Second World War Iron Consol shelter stands in the courtyard.
The building is listed, so there is no wheelchair access to the upper floor; folders with versions of current and past exhibitions can be viewed on the ground floor. The museum offers group visits, guided walks around Edenbridge and a shop with local gifts, postcards and local history books.
