Filching Manor and Motor Museum

About the museum

Filching Manor near Polegate in East Sussex was built around 1450. Its grounds also hold a public karting track, the Campbell Circuit, and the manor is the venue of the annual Jevington Fete.

The motor museum is best known as the home of Blue Bird K3, the last surviving intact Bluebird boat. Sir Malcolm Campbell drove this Rolls-Royce-engined speedboat to the world water speed record in 1937. The collection, built up by the Foulkes-Halbard family, concentrates on the record-breaking achievements of the Campbell family, with cars, boats and memorabilia. Other cars include an 1898 Orient Express, a 1907 Corbin racer, several Bugattis and a chain-driven Mercedes racing car of 1904, and most of the vehicles are in working order. The boat may not always be on display, as it is sometimes away for restoration work.
