About the museum
The Heath Robinson Museum is in Pinner Memorial Park in north-west London, next to West House. William Heath Robinson (1872–1944) was an artist, illustrator and humorist who lived in Pinner from 1908 to 1918, some of the most productive years of his career. The museum was officially opened by the author Michael Rosen on 15 October 2016.
The collection grew from the artist’s family holdings. The William Heath Robinson Trust was formed in 1992 to keep the collection in public ownership, and in 2015 about 400 more works were bought with help from the National Heritage Memorial Fund and the Art Fund. Funding for the building came from the Heritage Lottery Fund and local donors.
The museum is run in partnership by the West House and Heath Robinson Museum Trust and the William Heath Robinson Trust. A permanent exhibition combines original artwork with books, photographs, film and digital media to show his career, and a second gallery holds changing exhibitions. The museum also offers guided tours, workshops for children and a programme of events.
