About the museum
The museum is housed in the building in Abbey Fields that is known locally as the “barn”. It presents the story of Kenilworth Abbey, the Augustinian house that once stood in the park, and objects from the town’s past.
It is run entirely by volunteers from the Kenilworth History and Archaeology Society. Among the displays are a copy of the Dictum of Kenilworth, the settlement of 1266, and an exhibit about Kenilworth’s only car, added in 2019.
The building was closed for roof repairs in 2019 and reopened that May. In 2026 the museum reopened for the summer season once its electricity supply had been connected.
