About the museum
Market Drayton Museum & Heritage Centre is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers and supported by donations. It looks after a growing collection of objects, photographs, documents and memories that tell the story of the town and the surrounding area.
The museum is also used for research. Family historians, students and other researchers can ask for access to the archive, and the volunteers organise exhibitions, talks, walks, workshops and community events.
The museum currently opens in a small building in Shropshire Street. A future museum is being prepared in a ground-floor space beneath The Stag in the Joules Brewery complex in Great Hales Street, which the brewery has provided to the charity. The space is still an empty shell and the charity is raising money for the fit-out.
