About the museum
Polperro Model Village is a scale model of the Cornish fishing village of Polperro, showing its narrow, winding streets, old buildings and harbour as they would look from the air. According to its website, it has entertained visitors since the late 1940s and has survived both fire and flood. It is run as a family attraction by its owners.
The Land of Legend, on the same site, presents seven scenes from Cornish legends and superstitions in miniature, using lights, sound and animation. The tales draw on the pirates and smugglers who were active in and around Cornwall from the early modern period to the nineteenth century.
A 00 gauge model railway is also part of the visit. Trains run all the time through a layout that includes village life, farms, a river, a station and a depot.
