About the museum
The Queen’s Own Yorkshire Yeomanry was formed in 1956 by merging three Yorkshire yeomanry regiments: the Yorkshire Hussars, the Queen’s Own Yorkshire Dragoons and the East Riding of Yorkshire Yeomanry. It was reduced to a cadre in 1969 and in 1971 became the Yorkshire Squadron of the Queen’s Own Yeomanry. Its line is continued today by A (Yorkshire Yeomanry) Squadron, Queen’s Own Yeomanry, based at Fulford in York.
The museum keeps a small collection of artefacts and memorabilia from the Yorkshire yeomanry regiments. It is housed at the Yeomanry Barracks on Fulford Road and is not a standard visitor attraction: visits are arranged in advance through the squadron office.
