About the museum
The Royal Military Police Museum tells the story of British military policing from its origins on horseback to modern motorcycle riders, crime scene investigators and computer experts. The collection was formerly displayed at Chichester and moved to Southwick Park in 2007, where it was officially opened in June of that year by Queen Elizabeth II.
The museum occupies the old stable block of Southwick House, the country house that served as the headquarters for planning the D-Day landings in 1944. Each room covers a different period in the history of the corps. An interactive activity area supports learning for visitors of all ages, and guided and curriculum-based educational tours are available.
Visits are by appointment only. The D-Day Map Room in Southwick House itself is a separate attraction with its own booking arrangements.
