About the museum
The Who Shop began in 1984 as a shop for Doctor Who fans and has since moved twice, first from a warehouse in Wapping to High Street North and in 2009 to its present address on Barking Road in East London. The museum is a room at the back of the shop, in a space that was once the trophy room of the West Ham United supporters' store.
It shows props, costumes and other items from Doctor Who and related programmes, mostly from the older series, along with some promotional props. Displays rotate and have included two Daleks, villain costumes, a Yeti, a 1980s-style Cyberman and a TARDIS console made for a 1989 stage play. A wall of photographs shows stars of the programme who have visited the shop over the years.
Visitors enter the museum through a TARDIS door. The shop itself sells collectables, mainly from the newer series with some older items.
