About the museum
Warley Museum is housed in a disused cast-iron K6 telephone box in the centre of Warley village, at The Maypole Inn, on the edge of Halifax. Warley Community Association took over the box in spring 2016 through BT’s Adopt a Kiosk scheme, and members voted to turn it into a local history museum.
The museum was officially opened on 8 October 2016. It was designed and is curated by the local artists Paul and Chris Czainski, and a local joiner built the display cases. Exhibits are shown in secure cases that can be seen from inside and outside the box, and the themes change every few months. A board on the back of the box introduces people linked to the village.
