Reconstructed artillery magazine on the Vestvolden in Rødovre with a cannon hall – open only for booked tours and events.
Over het museum
When the Vestvolden, the western fortification rampart of København, was built in 1889–1890, nine artillery magazines were built along the complex. The magazine in Rødovre served as a depot for the Hvissinge Battery: the half-timbered building of about 300 square meters had room for eight cannons and 3,200 shells. In 1963, when the area was converted into a recreational area, the building was torn down.
In 1996 the magazine was reconstructed on its original site according to the old building plans. Until 2020 the Jobcenter Rødovre ran the building as an employment project; in spring 2023 the administration of the Oplevelsescenter Vestvolden moved in, which is run by Rødovre Kommune and is devoted to the history of the København fortifications and defense during the Cold War.
In the cannon hall stand some of the original fortress guns that were once in position on the Vestvolden. The center's second visitor site is the Ejbybunkeren on Jyllingevej.

The magazine is located on the rampart road south of the Rødovre Parkvej path.
