Over het museum

The museum goes back to the collector Herbert Schmidt from Bergholz-Rehbrücke. Over decades he gathered motorcycles, automobiles and engines, many of them found in attics and scrapyards, and restored them. Herbert Schmidt died at the end of 2021.

The collection grew into a private museum on the property on Schlüterstraße. About 100 exhibits are shown: cars, motorcycles with and without sidecars, cargo tricycles, and stationary and boat engines. The oldest pieces are two penny-farthings from the late 19th century. A focus is on NSU and Victoria motorcycles – including a machine from 1904 – and various Zündapp models from before and after the Second World War.

What is special is that the vehicles and engines are kept in working order. The museum has no fixed opening hours; visits are arranged by phone or email.
