Over het museum

Cosmocité is a science culture centre in Le Pont-de-Claix, in the Grenoble urban area. It is run by Territoire de sciences, a public cultural cooperation body devoted to scientific, technical and industrial culture in Grenoble-Alpes, which also operates La Casemate in Grenoble.

The building stands on the site of the former Grands Moulins de Villancourt. The water mill supplied flour to the Brun biscuit factory from 1869. It was demolished in 2019; the white volumes of the current centre recall the shape of the old mill, and “memory markers” installed in the entrance hall tell the story of the site.

On about 2,000 m², the centre offers visitors from 20 months of age access to scientific knowledge and current research: a 360-degree planetarium, an immersive room, a permanent exhibition on interactions on Earth and in the Universe, temporary exhibitions, activities for young children and a rooftop observation deck.

Book tickets online; payment on site by card or cash. Tickets are neither exchangeable nor refundable. Cheques are no longer accepted from September 1, 2026. Group tickets for companies are sold in packs of 10 and valid for 6 months.

Building accessible with lifts, ramps and furniture at adapted height; seats are available in the exhibition areas. The planetarium has 4 wheelchair spaces and five induction loops on request. Accessible toilets on level R-1, near the relaxation area. Reduced-mobility badge (badge PMR) available from reception. Planetarium and immersive room projections may be unsettling for sensitive people; the asteroid experience may be difficult for wheelchair users.

The centre welcomes visitors from 20 months; the ExpoKids area is intended for accompanied children aged 3 to 10, but the spaces are not suitable for children under 4. Changing table in the accessible toilets on level R-1. Birthday packages available.

5 minutes from the Rocade Sud ring road (exit 8, Pont de Claix) and 4 minutes from the A480 (exit 7). Chronovélo 3 cycle path and bike racks on the Parvis Thomas Pesquet.

Shop open until 17:45. Free padlocked lockers in the cloakroom (tokens at reception). Relaxation room where you can eat a packed meal, with no microwave; eating and drinking are not allowed in the other areas.

Thursday evening cocktail after 19:00 with access to the immersive room and observation deck, for 80 people; private planetarium and visit of the Terre and Espace areas optional. Daytime group visit of about 2 hours for up to 25 people.
