Over het museum

The Musée 39-45 is a private military museum devoted to the Second World War. It is located in Léhon, about 800 m from the center of Dinan, near the Hôpital général, and was founded in the mid-2000s. Its collection grew out of the passion of a collector, Éric Pasturel, and his son Thomas, and has been enriched over more than thirty years. It continues to grow today through donations and purchases.

The museum displays more than 20,000 pieces, from everyday objects to aircraft engines, as well as more than 45 mannequins in original uniforms. It covers the occupation, the Resistance, deportation and the liberation of Brittany. Restored artillery pieces and period vehicles stand alongside leaflets, airdrop containers and objects from the SAS commando units.

Reconstructions cover about 1,000 m²: a full-size blockhouse with its dormitory, infirmary, radio room and a gun emplacement equipped with a 47 mm Skoda gun, an American camp, a post office during the occupation, and a German convoy with a field kitchen. The museum also provides teachers with visit questionnaires and practical worksheets.
