Over het museum
The museum grew out of volunteers' passion for vintage farm machinery. In 1979, a local resident got his great-grandfather's tractor running again, and the Foyer rural de Saint-Loup-des-Bois association, the FRAMAA, was formed around this passion. A first harvest festival took place in 1982, after which the decision was made to build a museum. The building, largely constructed by volunteers, opened its doors on July 1, 1993.
The collection grew through donations and purchases in France and abroad. In 1996, a 1912 sawmill steam engine nicknamed Henryette was reassembled on the site, and a second building followed in 1999. A heritage orchard was planted in 2012. A third building of 2,500 m² opened in 2014 with a new presentation of the collections, and digital terminals were installed in all three buildings in 2017.
Today, the museum houses more than 300 working machines, including a collection of around 70 combine harvesters, presented as one of the most important in the world. Each year it hosts several events, including the Rétromoisson on August 15.
