Over het museum
In 1970, the state commissioned Jacques Lemonchois to clear dangerous wrecks from the bed of the Bay of the Seine that were a hazard to navigation. For many years he explored the landing areas and salvaged items, some of which he kept. He died in 2007.
The museum opened in 1990 on a private initiative near Port-en-Bessin. It shows remains and personal objects from warships and tanks sunk around June 6, 1944. Photographs and a film of about 52 minutes explain the underwater exploration work.
