Over het museum
The museum is housed in the former “cayenne”, the lodging house of the carpenter Compagnons, near the Place du Capitole in Toulouse’s historic center. It is run by the Fédération compagnonnique des Compagnons du Tour de France.
It displays the masterpieces made by young Compagnons during their Tour de France. These works are described as proof through practice and as evidence of how craft skills have been passed on from generation to generation.
The exhibitions explain who the Compagnons are, their philosophy and symbols, and their place in society past and present. Temporary exhibitions on a theme or trade are held regularly.
