Over het museum

The museum is devoted to Joseph-Louis Gay-Lussac (1778–1850), a chemist and physicist born in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat. It is a municipal museum that holds the “Maisons des Illustres” label.

The displays present the scientist’s personal belongings, laboratory instruments and old books. They cover his discoveries about gases, his teaching, his industrial activity and his political career as a deputy and peer of France.

All rooms are on one level. Guided tours, sometimes with experiments and games, are offered to groups.
