Over het museum

The museum is named after Raymond Lafage, a draughtsman and engraver born in Lisle-sur-Tarn in 1656. His talent was recognised during his lifetime: he joined the Académie royale in Paris and spent several years in Rome. He died at the age of 28 near Lyon. The museum holds an important collection of his drawings.

Since July 1, 2023, the museum has occupied new premises over three floors and carries the “Musée de France” label. It is dedicated to graphic arts in the broad sense, from the 17th century to the present day. On display are works by Honoré Daumier, an etching by Manet, drawings from Charlie Hebdo, prints by Gérard Trignac and works by Mikio Watanabé, a specialist in mezzotint.

A collection of so-called Grésigne glassware, made in the neighbouring forest between the 17th and 19th centuries, rounds off the visit. The museum is also linked to the international triennial of copperplate engraving in Lisle-sur-Tarn.
