The Irish Rock 'N' Roll Museum Experience opened in 2015 as an independently owned visitor attraction in Temple Bar. It is housed in a working music complex entered through The Button Factory, a live music venue on Curved Street, and it traces Irish rock music from the 1970s to the present day.

Every visit is a guided tour of about 60 to 75 minutes with a live guide. The route starts in the Temple Lane rehearsal studios, which hold a large framed vinyl collection and memorabilia, and continues through a cinema showing a film about the history of Irish rock, the U2 Room, a Jam Room where visitors can play in a real rehearsal room, a Green Room with riders from visiting artists, and the stage of The Button Factory. The tour ends in a second building on Cecilia Street with Apollo Studios and the Thin Lizzy collection.

The Thin Lizzy Room shows items connected with Phil Lynott, including guitars, a jukebox, photographs and his school report card, which his mother donated in 2017. The museum says tours are now offered in several languages.

Prices vary with weekends and high season; the lowest price in each published range is shown (adults €22 to €26, children €15 to €19, students, seniors and teenagers €19 to €23, family €65 to €79). Children under 5 are free. The museum is included in the Go City Dublin Pass.

The museum is in an old historic building and is not wheelchair accessible. Visitors with access needs are asked to contact the museum before booking.

The museum is not suitable for children under 5, and it recommends a minimum age of 7. Visitors can play instruments in the Jam Room. Family tickets cover two adults and two children.

Bereikbaarheid & parkeren

From Dame Street take Temple Lane and the next left onto Curved Street, a small pedestrian walkway. The reception is on the right at the entrance of The Button Factory.
