Over het museum
The museum occupies a carefully restored 18th-century townhouse in the former craftsmen’s quarter of San Felipe Neri, opposite the church of the same name. It is a private collection of some 3,000 glass pieces from different periods, through which the history of humanity is traced via this material.
Alongside the glass, paintings, furniture and decorative objects typical of each historical period are displayed, so that visitors can immerse themselves in the domestic setting in which the original owners lived. The project is conceived as a museum of decorative arts that helps to revitalise the quarter and serves as a reference and study centre for today’s craftsmen.
The collection also includes contemporary art glass (Studio Glass), with works by artists such as Dale Chihuly and Ingrid Conrad-Lindig. The museum’s website announces that its extension is now open to visitors.
