Ecomuseo de Arxeriz

Over het museum

The Ecomuseo de Arxeriz occupies a 17th-century pazo and several traditional rural buildings on an estate of about 30 hectares on the bank of the Miño, in the municipality of O Saviñao (Lugo). The property forms part of the Ribeira Sacra landscape.

The pazo houses four rooms devoted to the Ribeira Sacra (Romanesque architecture, the Entroido ribeirao carnival tradition and crafts), to traditional viticulture, to castro (hillfort) and prehistoric culture, and to river culture on the Miño and Sil rivers, with a wide collection of traditional boats. A traditional kitchen is also preserved.

The visit continues through the estate's buildings (chapel, hórreo, cabazo, dovecote, ovens and others) and reaches the castro, where the first archaeological campaign took place in 2013. A path crosses the estate among oaks and other deciduous trees, and the route ends with panoramic views over the river.

Bereikbaarheid & parkeren

Less than 10 minutes from Escairón: take the LU-P-4102 road heading south towards the church of San Martiño da Cova; after about 4 km turn right at the sign for “Ecomuseo de Arxeriz” and continue about 160 m.
