Over het museum
The Fundació Arranz-Bravo opened in September 2009 as a contemporary art space in L'Hospitalet, with a twofold aim: to disseminate the work of the painter Eduard Arranz-Bravo (Barcelona, 1941–2023) and to promote the work of young contemporary artists. Arranz-Bravo had a strong bond with the city and created its two main monuments, L'Acollidora and the Pont de la Llibertat.
While awaiting the opening of its permanent home in the Antic Molí, the foundation occupies a temporary space in the former warehouses of the Tecla Sala textile factory, within the Centro Cultural Tecla Sala, in a project designed by the architect Jordi Garcés. The permanent home, in the building opposite the cultural centre, has yet to be awarded.
The foundation holds a collection of three hundred and forty works by Arranz-Bravo, including paintings, works on paper, prints and sculptures, donated by the artist and illustrating his different creative periods. It is responsible for looking after them and promoting them through exhibitions in its own venue and in other museums in Catalonia, Spain and abroad. Throughout the year it also organises exhibitions and activities centred on emerging art and contemporary thought, and carries out educational work aimed especially at schools and social centres in L'Hospitalet.
