Over het museum

The exhibition was created in cooperation between the town of Dvůr Králové nad Labem, the Městské muzeum ve Dvoře Králové nad Labem (Municipal Museum in Dvůr Králové nad Labem), the Uměleckoprůmyslové museum v Praze (Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague), the Národní technické muzeum (National Technical Museum), the Královéhradecký kraj (Hradec Králové Region) and the Střední škola informatiky a služeb (Secondary School of Informatics and Services). It is located in the former workshops of the former Střední průmyslová škola (Secondary Industrial School) on the nábřeží Jiřího Wolkera (Jiří Wolker Embankment).

The exhibits present the methods, types and possibilities of printing on textiles. Thanks to the original machines, the many pattern books and fabrics, and the indigo-print workshop, visitors get to know the work of printers, designers, engravers and pattern makers. In the times of the greatest flourishing of the textile industry, Dvůr Králové was called the Czech Manchester.

A small printing workshop is prepared for visitors, where they can decorate fabric with hand-made blocks according to their own imagination. For schools the exhibition offers guided tours, worksheets for different age groups and the opportunity to try textile printing.
