Over het museum
The Vojenské muzeum Lichkov is located in the infantry blockhouses K-S 31 “U besídky” and K-S 32 “Na růžku” by the road between Lichkov and Mladkov. Both structures were built in 1936–1937 as part of the pre-war Czechoslovak fortifications built to defend against the threat of Nazi Germany. Blockhouse K-S 32 was concreted in December 1936 and used 1,570 m³ of concrete; K-S 31 followed in April 1937. In 1939 the German army removed the embrasures for the main weapons.
After years of decay, the ForteG association, with significant support from the municipality of Lichkov, which owns the surrounding land, began reconstructing blockhouse K-S 32 in May 2001, and the object was solemnly opened during the Cihelna 2001 event. Reconstruction of blockhouse K-S 31 began in March 2005; work on its full accessibility is still ongoing. The aim of the museum is not to restore the objects to their 1938 condition, but to show them with the visible traces of their fates.
The museum offers several thematic exhibitions: Czechoslovak Fortifications, Czechoslovak Armoured Vehicles, Military Equipment from 1939–1945, Our Soldiers on the Western and Eastern Fronts, and the History of Unpowered Flight (gliding). Visitors can see the blockhouse on their own or with a guide.
