Over het museum

The Výstavní síň Předzámčí is located on the ground floor of the front wing of Třebíč Château. It is run by the Městské kulturní středisko Třebíč (Town Cultural Centre Třebíč). Since 2013 it has hosted short-term exhibitions of graphic art, drawings, illustrations, sculptures and other works by regional artists.

The permanent exhibition Zmizelá Třebíč came about after extensive archaeological research that accompanied the reconstruction of Karlovo náměstí. The finds show what the town looked like between the 12th and 15th centuries. Among the most valuable objects are a shoe upper decorated with gold and a heraldic badge of a family not yet identified.

The exhibition fills four halls. It explains how the research was carried out and what methods were used, and uses audio-visual means to show what the square looked like in the past. On display are knives, whetstones, jewellery, coins and tokens, parts of weapons, dice and other objects. A digital reconstruction also shows the early medieval buildings, which were originally made of wood.
