Om museet
Heemkring De Drie Rozen has been active in 's-Gravenwezel, a sub-municipality of Schilde, since 1965, and became a non-profit association (vzw) in 1971. The association aims to preserve, study, publicise and value the local heritage. The heritage museum is housed in three former workers' cottages in the village centre, where there is also a documentation centre and an archive.
In the museum you can see numerous objects from everyday life in the past, and carefully reconstructed shop interiors from around 1900: a café, a parlour, a butcher's shop, a bakery and a school. You can also discover clothing and textiles from about a hundred years ago, a collection of marking samplers (merklappen) and lace patterns.
The museum is accessible to blind and partially sighted visitors; many objects have braille text. On the website you can also follow a 360° virtual guided tour.
