Om museet
A 16th-century house was rediscovered in Montluel following urban planning works. Henri Démia (1938–2002) set up a museum there, which opened on November 18, 2000. The museum is now run by the Comité Histoire et Patrimoine de Montluel.
The route spans three floors, with exhibits presented as thematic scenes showing life in earlier times: kitchen, laundry, ironing, sewing, school, traditional trades, work in the fields and vineyards, and religious life in Montluel.
Most of the collections come from donations. They include furniture, tools and period costumes, religious vestments, and an important collection of old postcards. They mainly show the rural and agricultural life of the Côtière, in the southwest of the Ain department, between 1900 and 1930.
