Om museet

The Musée d’art sacré in Saint-Mihiel occupies the south wing of the town’s former Benedictine abbey. The visit also includes the abbey’s former library. The museum is on the second floor of the building that now houses the tourist office.

The collections comprise about 2,000 works: goldsmith’s work from the 13th to the 20th century, sculptures, and “cires habillées” (dressed wax figures) from the 18th century. About 30% of the objects are deposits from municipalities in the Meuse department.

The museum is adapted for blind and visually impaired visitors, with Braille texts for the permanent collections and a tactile area. For children, it offers an activity booklet and free workshops during school holidays.
