Om museet
The museum is run by the association Les Amis du Vieux Lambesc, founded in 1936. It tells the story of this Provençal village and its medieval castle. It also recalls personalities linked to Lambesc, such as Madame de Sévigné, the postman Roulin, Baron Merle, Saint Eldrad and the French consul in Japan, Dury, as well as the deadly earthquake of 1909, which destroyed part of the village.
The collections include archaeological objects found in the commune, images of past activities, antique furniture, coats of arms and farm tools. Three rooms present the village's heritage and two rooms the archaeological finds of the commune. An agricultural area is set up under the canopy (préau) of the former village school. The museum holds the “Musée de France” label.
