Om museet

MuséoSeine, the museum of the Norman Seine, is located in Caudebec-en-Caux, now part of the commune of Rives-en-Seine, on the riverbank. It is run by the Caux Seine agglo urban community, which also runs the Gallo-Roman museum Juliobona in Lillebonne. The current museum succeeded the former Musée de la marine de Seine in Caudebec-en-Caux.

The route covers the history of the Seine, its inhabitants and its landscapes, from antiquity to the present day. It relies on contemporary scenography, interactive atmospheres and new technologies. Themes include the Seine ferries (bacs de Seine), the mascaret (a tidal bore running up the river), the boats of the Lower Seine, Seine pilots, fishing, leisure on the riverbank in the 1920s and bridges. Several boats are on display, including a gribane, a traditional Seine boat, on whose deck visitors can climb aboard.

The museum holds the Musée de France label. It is also certified Tourisme & Handicap and Môm'Art. All visitor features are translated into English.

The museum has held the Tourisme & Handicap label since April 5, 2022. Single entrance for all visitors; reception desk with a lowered section; lift between levels; accessible toilets; wheelchair lent at reception on request; seats and benches along the route. For visual impairment: guide strip between the parking space and the entrance, magnifying glass, visit guides in large print or audio version, marking of low areas and posts, guide dogs accepted. For hearing impairment: induction loop at reception and light signals in the toilets. A simplified French visitor guide is available. Tools for autism spectrum disorders and ADHD (pictograms, noise-reducing headphones, visual timer) are available on request at reception; inclusive visits take place at certain times. The museum has signed the Môm'Art charter for a welcome adapted to children. Children aged 3 to 5 receive a bag of little treasures to discover, and those aged 6 to 12 receive a booklet of games. A children's area lets them play at being young sailors. Workshops and mini-workshops during school holidays, a family pass and a birthday package for children aged 3 to 12.

The museum can be rented exclusively for meetings (16 seats in meeting mode, 30 seats in conference mode: €100 for a half day, €150 for a full day) and for team-building sessions with a self-guided or guided visit, or a workshop visit on Impressionism (groups of 10 to 80 people, visits in the morning, €3.50 to €6 per person).
